I began the accounting program at Truman College and after completing my first semester I have decided that accounting is not for me before receiving the WIA grant. I am meeting with my Career Manager on Thursday. She thinks that transferring to the Business Administration Advanced Certificate because it would prepare me for my transition to Business School and I could get a better job after my first semester in the program.
However, I am more interested in computers and would like to study networking. I am looking in to three programs (Computer Systems Institute, MicroTrain Technologies, and New Horizons Computer Learning Center). This switch would require me to switch Career Managers because I would not be going to Truman College. I think it is crazy that I cannot stay at Truman when they have the program even though they do not voucher the exams, but I would stay at Truman because I like my current Career Manager. I think it is also unfair that I would have to go all the way across the city to Richard J. Daley College to stay within the City Colleges of Chicago and pay less for the program.
